Complete Guide to Using an Oxygen Generator Device

Introduction and Usage:

An oxygen generator is an electrical device that draws in ambient air, removes nitrogen, and produces high-concentration oxygen (90% or higher) for the patient. This device is a suitable replacement for heavy and hazardous oxygen cylinders. It is used for patients with chronic respiratory conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), pneumonia, severe asthma, chronic COVID-19, or heart failure.

🧭 How to Use:

  1. Place the device on a flat surface, at least 30 cm away from walls and other objects. The surface beneath the device must be smooth and non-carpeted; avoid rugs or carpets.
  2. Connect the device to a power outlet and press the power button to turn it on.
  3. Attach the oxygen mask or nasal cannula to the device’s outlet, then connect it to the patient’s nose.
  4. Adjust the flowmeter according to the doctor’s prescription (usually between 1 to 5 liters per minute).
  5. Clean or replace the dust filter daily, and if the device has a water chamber, fill it with distilled water.

⚠️ Precautions and Warnings:

  • Smoking, lighting candles, using gas heaters, or operating any heat-producing devices near the oxygen generator is strictly prohibited.
  • Do not place the device in damp or wet areas.
  • Clean or replace filters regularly according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • In case of power failure, keep a small oxygen cylinder or an emergency power source ready.
