Complete Guide to Using an Oxygen Generator Device
Introduction and Usage:
An oxygen generator is an electrical device that draws in ambient air, removes nitrogen, and produces high-concentration oxygen (90% or higher) for the patient. This device is a suitable replacement for heavy and hazardous oxygen cylinders. It is used for patients with chronic respiratory conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), pneumonia, severe asthma, chronic COVID-19, or heart failure.
🧭 How to Use:
- Place the device on a flat surface, at least 30 cm away from walls and other objects. The surface beneath the device must be smooth and non-carpeted; avoid rugs or carpets.
- Connect the device to a power outlet and press the power button to turn it on.
- Attach the oxygen mask or nasal cannula to the device’s outlet, then connect it to the patient’s nose.
- Adjust the flowmeter according to the doctor’s prescription (usually between 1 to 5 liters per minute).
- Clean or replace the dust filter daily, and if the device has a water chamber, fill it with distilled water.
⚠️ Precautions and Warnings:
- Smoking, lighting candles, using gas heaters, or operating any heat-producing devices near the oxygen generator is strictly prohibited.
- Do not place the device in damp or wet areas.
- Clean or replace filters regularly according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In case of power failure, keep a small oxygen cylinder or an emergency power source ready.
